THE SPIRIT
RULING THE SOUL

Man was created in the image
of God (Genesis 1:26-27), with a physical body (flesh), a soul and a
spirit. When Eve and Adam sinned, their spirits died. Genesis 2:17
When a person is saved, it is his dead spirit which is born
again. Ephesians 2:1-6
The soul of a man is the very essence of that man. The
personality, all memories, all emotions, and all habits (good or
bad), are stored in the memory banks of the soul. The words,
"heart" and "soul" are the same thing as used
in the Bible.
God has proclaimed that the soul/heart is deceitful - Jeremiah
17:9-10
Jesus described how bad the soul/heart is: Matthew 15:16-20
The apostle Paul is describing the war between the soul and the spirit in Romans 7:11-25
An example can be found in
the war between the Ten Northern Tribes and Judah. 2 Chronicles
13:1-22
The soul is unruly - Titus 1:10-16; Easily provoked - Hebrews 3:7-12; Unstable - James
1:8;
2 Peter 2:14 and always changing, never able to finish any
project, unless it is a project of sin, then it will be finished.
2 Timothy 3:5-7
Samson is a PRIME EXAMPLE - Judges 16:1-31
A soul driven man creates wars - James 4:1-6
A soul driven man is drawn to Immediate rewards (pleasures), not
concerned about long term effects:
Revelation 10:1-11
King Hazekiah ended up as a soul man - 2 Kings 20, 12-21
The apostle Paul has given
us the insight between a soul man and a man ruled by his spirit!
1 Corinthians 2:9-16
Paul lived the spirit-ruled life - 2 Timothy 2:7-19
Paul lived by faith in God - 2 Timothy 4:1-18
Paul refused to let his soul take over - Acts 16:23-34
Paul could not be derailed - Acts 20:16-38
Paul could not be moved by emotions - Acts 21:8-14
The Devil will attack the
soul of a Christian with vengeance – 1 Peter 2:11
Murmuring and complaining is worship of the Devil, God hates it!

Who is ruling your life, your spirit or your soul?
The soul will respond to THE LUST OF THE FLESH; THE LUST
OF THE EYES, AND THE PRIDE OF LIFE!
