THE WRECKING CREW
IS COMING TO SACRAMENTO, CA
By John S. Torell
I received an invitation this month from
Capital Christian Center (CCC), the largest Assembly of God church in
the Sacramento area, to attend
their Dream It Leadership Conference in June. By the title of the
conference, I immediately wondered what kind of false doctrine the
leadership would be spreading to churches in northern California. In order
for you to understand my response to this invitation, I need to share some
historical facts with you.
SOME BACKGROUND
In the early
1980’s, I was approached by CCC’s
pastor, Glen Cole, to address the problem of Dungeons and Dragons.
Pastor Cole had assembled his entire staff of 11 pastors for a meeting
with me. I presented my book,
Christian Dynamics Course 1,
and shared for an hour or so about the occult, how many people in
occultism existed in the Sacramento
area and what Dungeon and Dragons was all about.
Pastor Cole purchased 12 books and then
scheduled me for a seminar on the occult to be held at his church. The
seminar was later cancelled. Some time later I found out there were a
number of Freemasons in the church, and when they heard that I was going
to come and speak there, pressure was put on Pastor Cole to stop it.
GLEN COLE COMES TO TOWN
Glen Cole came to Sacramento sometime in
the 1970’s when the church was called Bethel
Temple and was located on Howe
Avenue. At that time, it was a strong Assembly of God Church and the
flagship for the Assembly of God District in Northern California.
Glen is a dynamic speaker and as the
church grew, it became evident that a larger facility was needed. Also,
parking was extremely limited. One of the members donated a large piece of
property and the Church Board decided to move the church to the new
location and building commenced. It was given the name of Capital
Christian Center because “Temple” caused people to wonder what it was. His
son, Rick Cole, was on the pastoral staff and one of the pastors I met
during my presentation on the occult.
ALLIGNED WITH THE FREEMASONS
It is
interesting that Rick Cole was the keynote speaker to the Freemasons
during the 1980’s when they had a convention in Sacramento. When Glen was
asked about this, he said that his son went there to witness to these
people who were heavily into the occult. By not rooting out the Freemasons
in his church, Glen and the church prospered financially and he became a
favorite of the media in Sacramento. Whenever there were any events or
questions, the television stations and newspaper would always interview
him to get his “Christian opinion” on the matter. Eventually Glen became
the head of the Assembly of God District with its headquarters located in
Santa Cruz,
California, and he became involved in many
of the interfaith religious groups in the city.
ROBERT SCHULLER COMES TO TOWN
Many
people were familiar with the television ministry of Robert Schuller and
were following the building of the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove,
California, so he was invited to come and help dedicate the new church
building near Hwy 50 on October 7, 1984. I thought it strange that a
supposedly conservative Pentecostal leader would have a minister who
seemed to be into the occult, defile his pulpit. At that time I was still
on the radio in Sacramento and publicly spoke about this. It did not go
well with someone and pressure was applied to the station to sever my
relationship with them.
INTO AND OUT OF RETIREMENT
When Glen Cole retired as Senior Pastor of
CCC, the Board voted to invite his
son, Rick, who was a successful Senior Pastor in Omaha, to accept the
Senior Pastor position at CCC.
As leader of the Northern California District and a sought after speaker,
Glen’s “retirement” was full. Later he returned to the leadership group at
CCC for a short time before
retiring for good.
The second largest Assembly of God church
in Sacramento area is Trinity Life Center located in
North Highlands.
In the middle 1970’s, Trinity was on fire for the Lord and was then
located in Del Paso. Trinity had two services on Sunday morning and both
were filled to capacity. Paul Trulin (deceased) was the pastor and was
used mightily by the Holy Spirit.
Pastor Roy Lebeck took over after Trulin,
and William Vickery took over when LeBeck retired, Vickery moved Trinity
into the grip of The Purpose Driven Church and large numbers of
older members left or were driven out. Pastor Vickery recently resigned
due to ill health, both of himself and his wife.
The Trinity Board asked Pastor Glen Cole
if he would be their interim pastor until they could fill the vacancy.
They liked him so well, that they asked him to be their Senior Pastor, and
to everyone’s surprise, he accepted. It was made official on May 25, 2008.
RICK COLE’S CONFESSION
In his invitation to the Dream It
Leadership Conference, Rick makes the following statement: “We were
plateaued and frustrated. With a traditional church model and a lot of
history behind us, we determined we needed to consult someone outside our
organization. This process led us to discover ways we could celebrate our
history and traditions, while at the same time develop methods of ministry
that would reach a changing culture and connect with younger generations.
Without compromising our message, we have significantly changed our
methods. This has led to a 20% growth in attendance and a genuine
excitement in the atmosphere.”
Jesus didn’t develop methods for His
apostles to build the church; He sent the Holy Ghost! The apostle Paul
didn’t hold seminars to train the pastors in how to reach the young people
in decadent Rome. Paul thundered that the preaching of the cross is the
way to salvation
For Christ sent me not to baptize,
but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of
Christ should be made of none effect. For the preaching of the cross is
to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the
power of God.
For it is written, I will destroy the
wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the
prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of
this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after
that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God
by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
For the Jews require a sign, and the
Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews
a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which
are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom
of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness
of God is stronger than men.
For ye see your calling, brethren, how
that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble,
are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to
confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to
confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and
things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not,
to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his
presence. (1 Corinthians
1:17-29)
Rick Cole has suffered a shipwreck in his
faith. Read his words: “Please consider joining us for these three days
and bring some of your key leaders with you. I have often struggled with a
sense of inadequacy as a leader. It is an ongoing battle in my mind to
believe that I can lead a church to achieve great things. I have
determined that I will place myself in the presence of great leaders who
can inspire me to dream new dreams and equip me to see those dreams
fulfilled”
Where in the Bible do you find this
teaching? Aren’t we repeatedly told in the Bible to seek God, repent of
our sins and seek the counsel of the Holy Ghost and not of men?
Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the
man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart
departeth from the LORD. For he shall be like the heath in the desert,
and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places
in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.
Blessed is the man that trusteth in
the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.
For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out
her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf
shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither
shall cease from yielding fruit.
The heart is deceitful above all
things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man
according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
Jeremiah 17:5-10
Rick Cole met Bill Hybels, whom I would
call “Dr. Death.” Together with Rick Warren of The Purpose Driven Life,
these two men are among the current destroyers of the Christian faith and
the Devil’s choice tools to separate Christians from the Holy Spirit. When
I began writing this article, I thought it would be a short piece to warn
about the conference at CCC, but it
seems that I need to bring more information to the readers in order for
each one to have the knowledge to be able to make an informed decision.
WILLIAM (BILL) HYBELS
Every
denomination in the United States has been infiltrated by liberal demonic
doctrine and the Evangelical Free Church of America is no exception. This
denomination has its roots from the Scandinavian Mission Covenant Churches
that were born out of an awakening in
Sweden
in 1878. People broke away from the
Swedish State Lutheran Church, and it
became a strong evangelical movement preaching the necessity to be born
again, but they were never able to break away from infant baptism. As
millions of Swedes, Danes and Norwegians immigrated to the
United States
to escape the poverty that existed in the Scandinavian nations in the
1800-1900’s, they brought with them the Mission Covenant Church, and in
1885, the Swedish Evangelical Covenant Church was founded in Chicago,
Illinois.
In 1884, a group of Swedes in Boone, Iowa,
founded the Swedish Evangelical
Free Mission, and for some time the two denominations worked together
until they eventually became two separate entities. Bill Hybels has his
roots from the Evangelical Free Church, which is a merger of the Swedish
Evangelical Free Church and the Norwegian-Danish Evangelical Free Church
that took place in 1950.
Bill Hybels was born in 1952 in Kalamazoo,
Michigan. At the age of 20, Bill
was the youth pastor at Park Ridge’s South
Park Church in the Chicago area.
With Dave Holmbo, he started a youth group called “Son City.” By 1975, the
youth group had grown from 25 to 1,200 young people. Modern music,
dramatic skits, and multimedia with Bible studies using bastard versions
of the Bible propelled the growth of the group.
Hybels married his wife Lynne in 1974, and
during the same year, he began the work of starting their own church. The
first meeting was held on October 12, 1975 and Willow
Creek Church was born. 125 people
attended the first meeting, and by 1977, the church had grown to a
membership of some 2,000.
In 1981, the church relocated to South
Barrington (Chicago
area). Ten years later, Bill introduced cell groups and by the year 2000,
more than 15,000 people attended the church along with a cell network of
some 2,600 groups.
Hybels more or less bypassed the
denomination he came out from and has built his own denomination called
The Willow Creek Association, with some 11,000 churches worldwide. He
has developed what is called “seeker sensitive” churches, using modern
worship, drama, and friendly messages geared for the unchurched people.
The Wednesday night service is geared to a light Bible study for new
believers.
Hybels is the CEO for around 48 fulltime
pastors who run this huge business empire. He spends more and more time
traveling to lecture, teach and increase his denomination. He has a BA
degree in Biblical Studies from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in
Deerfield,
Illinois and was later given an honorary
doctor of divinity degree. The school is owned and operated by the
Evangelical Free Churches of America.
The preaching of the cross, repentance,
salvation, hell and the coming judgment for all people has been replaced
with dance and drama in the worship services, including “Christian rock
music” and multimedia slideshows. Hybels is also tied in with Robert
Schuller, and in the books he has written, Hybels gives much credit for
his success to the positive thinking marketed by Schuller. He promoted the
Robert Schuller Institute in a November 18, 1988 advertisement in the
magazine, “Christianity Today.”
WHAT IS A HYBELS CHURCH?
Bill Hybels is a showman and gives people
what they want, a contemporary church with rock music, dance and
entertainment, and a feel good message based on bastard translations of
the Bible. It is void of any confrontation of the sinful nature of man,
the need for repentance and receiving Jesus as Lord and Saviour. There is
no talk about hell and the Lake of
Fire. According to Bill’s own
writing, his church contains Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon, Narcotics
Anonymous, Emotions Anonymous, etc. In addition, they have counseling
centers, a food pantry, employment counseling, and a benevolent ministry
for people with financial needs.
Hybels believes there are two different
gospels, one for men and one for women. The gospel message for a man is
that a relationship with Jesus Christ is essential to avoid mindless
misinterpretations of masculine identity. For a woman, the gospel is that
Jesus Christ offers freedom from being a people-pleaser, thereby allowing
her to satisfy her need for inner security.
A Hybels church does not have a
conventional worship service. They don’t have an altar, choir, organ,
hymnal or song book and the music has many different styles. The message
conveyed is upbeat, but the idea is not so much about being saved from
eternal damnation in the Lake of
Fire, but a salvation from
meaninglessness and aimlessness in life on earth.
BIRDS OF A FEATHER FLOCK TOGETHER
What was
unthinkable in the 1950’s is now common practice in 2008. Jack Van Impe
and his wife Rexella, a fundamental hellfire evangelist has gone over to
the Roman Catholic Church and is now the lapdog for the Pope. The kingpin
of all the renegade evangelists and pastors is Robert Schuller. He is a
Universalist and doesn’t believe that Jesus is the only way to the Father.
He defines sin as the loss of self-esteem or lack of faith in yourself.
Schuller teaches that Christ endured the cross to sanctify his and our
self-esteem and heavily promotes positive thinking. Before the
construction of the Crystal Cathedral, Schuller traveled to Rome to get
the Pope’s blessing on this multimillion dollar glass building. In a 1987
statement, he said that it was time for all Protestants to return back to
the fold of the Roman Catholic Church. Both Bill Hybels and Rick Warren
attribute Robert Schuller to be their spiritual mentor and father; they
both claim they found the key to success from the Church Leadership
Institute founded by Schuller.
A number of well-known ministers have
spoken of Schuller in glowing terms, and among these are W.A. Criswell
(1909-2002) and Billy Graham, both of whom are Southern Baptists. Bill
Hybels, Stephen Hayner (Intervarsity), Jack Hayford (Four Square Gospel
denomination), John Wimber (Vineyard Churches) and Korean pastor Paul
Yonggi Cho (now David Cho of Yoido
Full Gospel Church,
Seoul,
South Korea) have all been speakers at Schuller’s Church Leadership
Institute conferences.
Bill Hybels has also been a frequent
speaker at conferences held by Moody Bible Institute which used to be a
very conservative Bible college.
As I started to research the background
and the connections between the different Christian leaders, it became a
virtual maze and was hard to find a clear path to understanding. Charles
Swindoll is another enigma that makes the waters murkier. He was born in
Texas in 1934, studied mechanical engineering in college and was a Marine
that served in Southeast Asia. He married his wife Cynthia in 1955,
entered Dallas Theological Seminary (a Scofield stronghold) in 1959 and
graduated in 1963. He has served pastorates Dallas and Irving, Texas,
Waltham,
Massachusetts and in an Evangelical Free Church in Fullerton,
California (1971-1994). Swindoll is
also a radio speaker, having been on the radio since 1977 with the
program, “Insight for Living.” In July 1994, Swindoll was asked to become
the president of Dallas Theological Seminary.
Swindoll is not a bad person but his
theology is not very good. He is a big fan of the Living Bible, which is a
concept translation of the Bible. He has also indicated his high respect
for the Roman Catholic Mother Teresa, who at her death bed confessed she
did not know if she was going to heaven or not. Teresa taught that Hindus
and Buddhists can enter heaven by their own faith, which is the position
Billy Graham has taken in his latter years. Swindoll has written a number
of books and quotes Robert Schuller without hesitation.
Like Billy Graham, Swindoll has become an
ecumenist and spoken at a number of different conferences like Promise
Keepers where Biblical doctrine is not valued. At the Promise Keepers
conference in Boulder,
Colorado in 1994, Swindoll rode in to the
stadium on a motorcycle while the loudspeakers played the rock song “Born
to Be Wild.” In his book “Grace Awakening,” Swindoll teaches that
fundamentalists who strive for doctrinal and moral purity are legalists
who need to learn grace.
At his inauguration as president of Dallas
Theological Seminary in 1994, a great number of contemporary Christian
leaders came out to support him, among them was James Dobson from “Focus
on the Family.” Stuart Briscoe (leading us to another player in the maze)
and the Roman Catholic Charles Colson (a former lawyer in the Nixon
administration who was found guilty in the Watergate break-in, served time
in Federal prison, got religion while in prison, and started a prison
ministry after he was released). The day after the inauguration, Swindoll
was a featured speaker at a Promise Keepers’ rally. During the month of
September, he spoke at Moody
Memorial Church in Chicago and at Bill
Hybels’ Willow
Creek Community Church.
SUMMARY OF RICK COLE
These are the great leaders that Rick Cole
believes will give him direction, inspiration and equip him to do God’s
work. It seems to me, that now Rick wants to copy Bill Hybels and build
his own empire in the West and destroy as many pastors and leaders as
possible by bringing them into the same bondage he is in. Listen to Rick
Cole’s own words: “DREAM IT was birthed from
Capital Christian Center’s five-year
journey taking them from a stagnant to a vibrant church after the
realization that their methods were no longer effective to the changing
culture.” What Rick is
basically saying is that the old methods introduced by his father, have
now been replaced by the methods developed by Bill Hybels.
THE CONFERENCE IS NOT CHEAP
During this conference there are two types
of seats at the Capital Christian Center’s multimillion dollar complex.
The first seven rows of the five center sections on the first floor are
selling for $249 each, with a service charge of $1.50 per seat. The poorer
people are going to have to sit further away but will still pay $195 plus
the service charge.
WHO ARE THE WRECKERS?
I was stunned when I read the brochure
sent to me because Rick Cole is bringing in spiritual dwarves and some of
them are not even born again! I do not say this lightly because I have
done my homework to be sure I have the facts.
Bill Hybels will be the keynote speaker on
the first day and I have already covered him.
ERWIN MCMANUS
Erwin
McManus is the keynote speaker on the second day. He was born in El
Salvador and has a U.S. education with degrees from the University of
North Carolina
and Southwestern Theological Seminary (Southern Baptist). The types of
degrees are omitted in his official biography. He lists himself as an
author, speaker, activist, filmmaker and innovator who specializes in the
field of developing and unleashing personal and organizational creativity,
uniqueness, innovation and diversity. The following statement is made on
his website: “Engaging such issues as culture, creativity, change and
leadership, Erwin is widely known as a thought-provoking communicator. His
travels have taken him to over 30 countries and he has spoken to over a
million people from a wide variety of audiences, including the NFL,
Lionsgate, New Line Cinema and
ILOG. His work is featured in numerous
films, articles and magazines across the US and internationally.”
Most people living in the United States
know that the NFL is the parent organization for professional football,
but I had never heard of the other three. What I found out made me very
sad because it tells me a lot about Erwin’s heart.
LIONSGATE
Here is a
short introduction from their website: “Lionsgate is the leading
independent producer and distributor of motion pictures, television
programming, home entertainment, family entertainment, video-on-demand and
digitally delivered content. Its prestigious and prolific library of
nearly 12,000 motion picture titles and television episodes is a stable
source of recurring revenue and is a foundation for the growth of the
Company’s core businesses. The Lionsgate brand name is synonymous with
original, daring, quality entertainment in markets around the globe.”
NEW LINE CINEMA
Here
is a short introduction from their website: “Over the past 40 years,
New Line has expanded to become a multi-media company with various
profitable divisions, having created some of the most successful film
franchises in history. Its most popular films include A Nightmare on
Elm Street, The Mask, Austin
Powers, Blade, Rush Hour, Elf and Wedding Crashers. The studio’s The Lord
of the Rings trilogy grossed nearly $3 billion at the worldwide box
office, and over $3 billion in consumer spending in home entertainment and
merchandising.
In 2006, New Line earned over $1 billion
in revenue, and its divisions in licensing and merchandising, music,
international, television and home entertainment performed solidly. This
year, the television division will produce The Real Wedding Crashers, a
reality-based program for NBC based on the hit movie. New Line’s licensing
and merchandising unit partnered with SEGA to create a video-game
adaptation of the highly-anticipated theatrical release The Golden
Compass. Also, New Line joined Microsoft’s Xbox Live video download
service, where new release titles and library films will be available for
digital rental in HD and standard definition.
Throughout its 40 years, New Line Cinema
has represented innovation and creativity, and continues to do so in
today’s digital marketplace. ‘Longevity with Vitality,’ has been the
company’s motto for many decades, and New Line Cinema will continue to be
a leader in creating and developing entertainment that resonates around
the world.”
ILOG
ILOG
is an interesting French corporation started in 1987 by Pierre Haren. It
has two headquarters, one in France
and the other in Silicon Valley, California. The average person does not
have a criminal mind and would never question why McManus would be a
motivational speaker for this company, so let me share with you what I
have learned over the years. During the late 1980’s a number of software
companies were started to service businesses as computer usage exploded
and the typewriter became obsolete. This was the golden opportunity for
intelligence services to get in on the ground floor by financing and
controlling these new service companies, they would be able to
unsuspectingly glean hard to get information. This was specifically
valuable when software companies signed contracts with government agencies
and ran their computer systems.
One such company was started in Sacramento
in the late 1980’s by a retired military officer and became specialized in
software for water treatment plants, including bringing in fresh water to
cities and counties and running their waste water treatments. One of their
employees was attending our church in the 1990’s and his job consisted of
traveling all over the United States working with county and city
governments. He shared that the company had ties to intelligence
operations. Being able to disrupt a vital community system like water
would cause much damage in case of a war or terrorist attack.
If you look at ILOG’s
corporate profile, they employ some 850 people in many nations servicing
more than 3,000 corporations.
Thus, by furnishing the software to these corporations,
ILOG
knows everything their clients are doing. The employee I mentioned that
attended our church also told me that when a software program was written
and designed for a certain client, commands would be written into the
program that would secretly send data back to the company, who was able to
store information about the business and operations. Each program was
written in such a way that when the license expired, the program would
shut down until a new agreement was in place, only then would the software
company release the keys to start the program again. Here are some
questions that come to mind:
·
Why would Edwin list ILOG
on his résumé if he is a preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
·
Why would ILOG use a
preacher of the Gospel to be their motivational speaker since it is not a
Christian company and caters to top corporations in the world?
·
Are his speaking
engagements with the company ongoing and how well paid is he?
ERWIN MCMANUS A PASTOR?
There is a church if you can call it that
with its headquarters in Pasadena, California that is called Mosaic. Here
is how they describe themselves: “We are a community of followers of
Jesus Christ, committed to live by faith, to be known by love and to be a
voice of hope. The name of our community comes from the diversity of our
members and from the symbolism of a broken and fragmented humanity which
can become a work of beauty under the artful hands of God. We welcome
people from all walks of life, regardless of where they are in their
spiritual journey. Come to Mosaic, and discover how all the pieces can fit
together.”
Erwin does not list himself as
a pastor for this church but states that “he serves as the primary
communicator and cultural architect of Mosaic.”
A man is known by his associations and the
information given tells us that Erwin is not a Holy Spirit filled man of
God, but a disillusioned Southern Baptist minister who has suffered a
shipwreck in his faith. He has become a full fledge New Age disciple,
caught up in the world of ungodly movies and become a motivational speaker
for wealthy billion dollar businesses. He is a combination of Norman
Vincent Peale, Robert Schuller and Herbert W. Armstrong,
empowered by demonic forces.
MATTHEW KELLY
Matthew
Kelly is the keynote speaker on the third day of the conference. He is
described by the conference brochure as an “internationally acclaimed
speaker and author and the founder and president of Floyd Consulting, a
consulting firm founded on the belief that your organization can only
become the-best-version-of itself if the people that drive your
organization are striving to become the-best-version-of themselves.”
I found it strange that a man of this
secular ability should be a keynote speaker at a Christian conference. I
had never heard of him before and was stunned when I found he is a staunch
Roman Catholic and one of their most dynamic speakers. Let me quote
directly from his foundation, not the secular consulting firm that is
advertised with the Dream It Leadership Conference:
“Matthew Kelly was born in
Sydney, Australia, on July 12, 1973. Over the past ten years more
than three million people in fifty countries have attended his
talks, seminars, and retreats. Against the backdrop of his travel to
fifty countries, millions more have been touched by his writings and
appearances on radio and television programs.
In the wake of devoting the past
decade of his life to his international speaking schedule, Kelly has
also gained acclaim as an author. His most recent books include: The
Rhythm of Life, The Book of Courage, Rediscovering Catholicism, The
Shepherd, A Call to Joy, and Mustard Seeds. Collectively his titles
have been published in over a dozen languages and have sold more
than one million copies.
Both as a speaker and as an
author, Kelly possesses a powerful ability to combine the ageless
tool of storytelling with a profound understanding of today’s
culture and the common yearnings of the human heart. As a result he
captures our imaginations and helps us to see the challenges and
opportunities of our everyday lives in a new light. With a keen
sense of humor and heartwarming charm, Kelly seems to effortlessly
elevate and energize people to pursue the highest values of the
human spirit and become “the-best-version-of-themselves.”
From amidst a culture preoccupied
with speed, noise, and activity, has emerged a man with a unique
vision of life and a tireless passion for sharing that vision.
Dynamic, and extraordinarily engaging, Matthew Kelly comes to the
aid of a generation searching for some meaning in life deeper than
the pursuit of pleasure and possessions. He clarifies the hazy path
of right-living in our world of compromised values with a message
that is too clear to be confusing and too persuasive to be ignored -
“Who you become is infinitely more important than what you do, or
what you have.”

REDISCOVERING CATHOLICISM
One of the many books Matthew Kelly he has
written is, Rediscovering Catholicism: Journeying Toward Our
Spiritual North Star. The title of this book caught my
attention and I wondered why an Assembly of God pastor in America would
invite a Catholic evangelist trying to revive faith in the Roman Catholic
Church to his church? Here is what the Kelly Foundation has to say about
this book:
“At a time when many Catholics
are disillusioned, questioning their faith, and filled with doubts
about the relevance of Catholicism in the modern world, the voice of
one young man cries out with a clarity and inspiration to the
world’s largest faith community.
“Beginning with our common
yearning for happiness, Rediscovering Catholicism, takes us on an
adventure of life-changing proportions by addressing some of the
most important questions we face today both as individuals and as a
Church.
“In each generation a leader
comes forth who is able to bring Christianity to life in a way that
revitalizes individuals, communities, and the universal Church. Once
you experience his bold, brilliant, practical, and inspiring style,
you will soon understand why so many people consider Matthew Kelly
to be one of the great spiritual voices of our times.
“Over the past ten years, Matthew
Kelly has seen more of the world than most presidents and more of
the Church than most bishops. Now, in this unique and timely book,
he proposes that Catholicism is not a lifeless set of rules and
regulations, but a way of life designed by God to help each person
reach his or her full potential. With remarkable insight, Kelly
dispels dozens of the myths that surround the practice and rejection
of Catholicism today, and provides a profound and practical vision
of what will lead the Catholic Church to thrive again in the future.
“‘Holiness is to become
the-best-version-of-yourself. Francis of Assisi spent his whole life
trying to become the best-version-of-himself. Mother Teresa spent
her whole life trying to become the-best-version-of-herself. God
calls us all to holiness, because God wants each of us to be all we
can be.’
“‘The goal of the Christian life
is holiness,’ Kelly explains, ‘but somewhere along the way this term
disappeared from most Catholic’s vocabulary. Either because we
thought it was an unattainable ideal or because we felt it lacked
relevance in the modern context. Maybe we thought the idea of
holiness made people feel guilty. Perhaps we just wanted to make it
easier for people. Whatever the reason, the disappearance of this
goal hasn’t made it easier for modern Catholics; it’s made it harder
for them.’
“Have you ever tried to find your
way to a place you have never been before with no directions, no
map, and no clear description of the destination?
“‘The great confusion that is
torturing the Church and weakening our faith surrounds one question.
What is holiness? The falling attendance at church, the
marginalization of the Church by our secular culture, and our
failure to reach the youth are all caused by our inability to
communicate clearly the answer to this question. What is holiness?’
“‘Modern men and women have
simply become disoriented. We have lost our way. By putting aside
the goal of the Christian life - this call to holiness - we have
lost sight of the great Spiritual North Star. The North Star is the
only star in the sky that never moves; it remains constant,
unwavering, and therefore is truly a guide. If we are to find our
way, we must rediscover the great Spiritual North Star.’”

MATTHEW KELLY WORSHIPS THE MOTHER OF JESUS
As I looked further on Kelly’s website, I
was stunned again because this man is worshipping Mary and leading people
into idolatry. His favorite place to hold retreats is in the village of
Fatima
in Portugal. His 2008 retreat is going to be held in August, 2008. How
many pastors from the Dream It Leadership Conference are going to
attend this “Mary worship seminar” in order to become more “spiritual?”
Kelly says “anything or anyone that does not help you become
the-best-version-of-yourself is too small for you.” He says, “Each
year during the first week of August Matthew steps back from his busy
schedule to spend this time sharing his thoughts and insights in a more
intimate setting. Asked why he journeys back to this place year after
year, Matthew explains: ‘Fatima
is a place where I get answers!’”
“Last year people attended the retreat
from 12 to 86 years of age and from more than twenty states across the US.
Come and awaken your spiritual senses, unveil the amazing plan God has in
mind for you, develop amazing new friendships, discover
the-best-version-of-yourself, and with Matthew’s help put together a
practical strategy for the next phase of your life!
“This retreat incorporates talks,
excursions, bible study, the mass, and free time into a phenomenal step on
your spiritual journey.
“If you have heard Matthew speak or
read his writings, you know already that he possesses a rare gift to
convey life-changing insights into a powerful and inspiring way. During
his talks and workshops in Fatima he will help you identify your
legitimate needs - physically, emotionally, intellectually, and
spiritually, and teach you to get in touch with the deepest desires that
God has placed in your heart. Throughout the retreat portion of this trip
Matthew will present twice a day in an intimate setting... a rare
experience as most of us are only used to attending large gatherings with
Matthew.
“Each afternoon you will enjoy a bible
study. This is an opportunity for us to become more familiar with the
Bible and how we can all use it in our daily lives. Before dinner each
evening we will celebrate Mass together.”
Why should a pastor who claims to be born
again and baptized in the Holy Spirit, want to find out more on how to
grow spiritually under a man who is a hardcore Roman Catholic evangelist?
I am sure that the majority of the pastors attracted to the Dream It
Leadership Conference have not checked out the speakers. They are just
coming to the conference because of the clout the Cole family wields in
Assembly of God circles.
WHAT IS FATIMA?
I had very basic knowledge of Fatima but
did not know a whole lot about it. I want to quote directly from the
Fatima website, and as you read their words, ask yourself what Matthew
Kelly has to offer.
Fatima is Heaven’s intervention to
save us from persecution, war, annihilation, enslavement and hell.
Fatima is a visit by Our Heavenly
Mother Mary in our time for our time. It is a Message of concern, a
practical plan for world peace, a promise of Heaven.
It is Heaven’s interventions to save
us from persecution,
martyrdom,
war, enslavement or annihilation. Above all it’s a way to save our
souls from hell. It is meant for you.
Today Our Lady, by Divine
Providence, invites you to learn The Whole Truth About Fatima by
giving you this opportunity to know Her beautiful Message of Fatima.
The Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother
of God, appeared 6 times to 3 shepherd children; Lucy, Francisco and
Jacinta; between May 13 and October 13, 1917. She came to the little
village of Fatima which had remained faithful to the Catholic Church
during the recent persecutions by the government.
Our Lady’s Message
She came with a message from God to
every man, woman and child of our century. Our Lady of Fatima
promised that the whole world would be in peace, and that souls
would be saved if they obeyed.
She told us that war is a
punishment for sin; that God would punish the world for its sins in
our time by means of war, hunger, persecution of the Church and
persecution of the Holy Father, the Pope, unless we listened to and
obeyed the commands of God.
Fatima today!
At Fatima, Pope John Paul II said
on May 13: “the Message of Fatima is more relevant and more urgent”
than when Our Lady first appeared. The message is an anguished
appeal of Our Heavenly Mother, Who sees us in great danger and Who
comes to offer Her help and advice. Her message is also a prophecy,
a clear indication of what was about to transpire in the 20th
Century, and what is still going to happen infallibly in the near
future, depending on our response to Her requests. Many souls would
go to Heaven if Her requests were listened to.
The Church approves Fatima
The Catholic Church has endorsed
the Fatima Message since 1930. Five successive Popes have publicly
indicated their approval of the apparitions of Our Lady at Fatima
and Her message. Two Popes went to Fatima on Pilgrimage. Pope John
Paul II went there twice, once on May 13, 1982 and again on May 13,
1991.
God Himself endorses Fatima
As a great sign of this whole
message truly coming from God, a marvelous miracle was worked in the
sky above Fatima before 70,000 witnesses on October 13, 1917, at the
time, date and place that Lucy and the other two children had
prophesied in the name of Our Lady of Fatima.
As also prophesied, Francisco
and Jacinta died in the odor of sanctity in 1919 and 1920. Lucy
became a Carmelite Sister. Sister Lucy is still alive today. She is
88 years old.
Our Lady of Fatima continues
to work miracles today through Fatima water which is sent from
Fatima around the world. This Fatima water sprang up in Fatima at
the spot the Bishop told people to dig, very near where Our Lady
appeared at the Cova da Iria (the Cove of Peace) in Fatima. Still
other people are cured when they go on pilgrimage to Fatima, which
is about 90 miles north of Lisbon, Portugal.
For world peace
In order to prevent these
chastisements from befalling us She told us that special Reparation
for sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary was
necessary, particularly the Communions of Reparation on the First
Saturday of five consecutive months and the public and solemn
Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary by all the
Catholic Bishops of the world, together with the Pope on the same
day at the same hour.
In the end Our Lady must triumph
Finally Her message is a promise
of the eventual triumph of Her Immaculate Heart over evil. She
promised that no matter how black it might get in the future (and it
seems that is the path chosen by most of humanity today) that in the
end She will triumph, Her requests would finally be granted by
mankind and there will be world peace.
What you must do
It is up to each of us to listen,
to read, to learn and to apply this Heavenly message in our own
lives, particularly by praying the daily Rosary. To the extent we
can, we must also do all we can to see to it that this final warning
from Our Heavenly Mother is spread and that its significance is
explained to everyone before it is too late. We must not be
complacent in the promise of Her eventual triumph because it is
still dependent on our co-operation with God’s grace and His plan
outlined at Fatima.

FATIMA IS A PLACE OF IDOL WORSHIP
Matthew Kelly is true to his Roman
Catholic faith and leading thousands of young people to
Fatima,
drink the “holy water,” attend mass and pray and worship Mary. There is no
place for Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. To put it bluntly,
the worship at Fatima is no different from the idol worship that took
place in ancient Israel when people worshipped Baal. One is just as
demonic and occult as the other.
ED YOUNG JR.
Ed Young,
Jr. is the final speaker on Wednesday night. He is the son of Pastor Ed
Young, Sr., pastor of Second
Baptist Church in Houston,
Texas. Junior is the founder and
senior pastor of Fellowship Church in Grapevine, Texas. Both churches are
affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.
Junior can be described as a member of the
“lost generation of the 1970’s,” when the hippie movement with its drugs,
sex and rock-n-roll penetrated the youth and made many of them lose their
faith in God. In order to find out more about Junior’s spiritual state,
let’s look at the speakers of the 2006 conference he hosted. There was
Bill Hybels, T.D. Jakes (left), and Erwin McManus. This is how the
conference was advertised:
“Change
is a necessary catalyst for our growth, maturity and development. Although
we experience changes almost daily, there is something that never changes.
From eternity to eternity, God remains a constant. Simply put: God is.
But the same cannot and should not be
said of the church. The methodology must change in order to meet the
changing contour of the world around it. In short: Church evolves.
As leaders of the church, we must be
willing to facilitate that evolution. Through this series of talks, we can
learn to do church in ways we never thought possible and discover together
what the church can become because of who God is.”
We can therefore conclude that Ed Young
Jr. is just as confused and spiritually lost as the rest of the speakers
at the Dream It Leadership Conference.
ARTIFICIAL SPIRITUAL STIMULATION
Since the Holy Spirit will not be part of
this conference, there needs to be artificial spiritual stimulation. That
will be accomplished by a number of so-called Christian worship teams.
DELIRIOUS?
According to the brochure, this is an
English rock and worship band.
DOUG REID BAND (DRB)
This is a local worship band from Capital
Christian Center. Here is their profile as found on the website: “DRB
began and continues as one of the worship bands for
Capital Christian Center in Sacramento,
CA. The six member band was formed during a time of change at the church (CCC).
Doug Reid, lead vocalist and guitarist of DRB and also student ministries
director at CCC, was asked to lead worship at the church’s casual service
(a contemporary worship style service) at the beginning of October, 2005.”
ISRAEL & NEW BREED
This is the information given by Capital
Christian Center: “Israel
Houghton is considered a forerunner and architect of cross-culture
worship. He has written hundreds of songs for the church worldwide and is
an award winning producer and arranger. Israel is the Founder and
President of New Breed Music which is a worship movement that crosses all
cultural, generational and denominational boundaries. He also serves as
worship leader of Lakewood Church in Houston with Pastor Joel Osteen.”
CONCLUSION
It was not pleasurable writing this
article; instead, it was like writing an obituary over the Church of Jesus
Christ that is made up of believers from all over the world. According to
the Bible, the Church is the physical body on the earth of our Lord Jesus
Christ. (Ephesians 1:15-23)
The body of Christ is riddled with a
spiritual cancer that is eating up his body and forming tumors. When a
human body is attacked with cancer, there is surgery, chemo therapy and
radiation. The only cure for spiritual cancer is an antidote of Truth to
combat the spirit of Error. (1 John 4:1-6) It is up to the apostles,
prophets, pastors, evangelists, and teachers to bring out truth to the
body of Christ and to eradicate false doctrine and demonic worship music.
(Ephesians 4:11-16)
I have no doubt that thousands of pastors
and church leaders will be lured to the Dream It Leadership Conference
at Capital Christian Center. They will come because they are spiritually
malnourished, believing that new methods will make their church grow and
impact their communities. Instead of getting help, they will be given a
lethal dose of a devilish spiritual counterfeit which will cause their
faith to be shipwrecked and destroy their church members, who will lose
heart and leave the churches.
I feel helpless as I see the Devil moving
into Sacramento this month, knowing the wrecking crew will reassemble
again in some other state and continue its destructive work of death.
Glen Cole and company kicked me off the
radio station KFIA in Sacramento many years ago. The cost to be on the
radio station KCBC, which was reaching Central California, kept rising and
eventually the listeners were not able to sustain the higher cost. The
Jewish leadership has labeled me anti-Semitic and people are full
of apathy. They are not investigating but just believing all they
see and hear from the media. As a result, we have no outlet but our
mailing list and website to saturate California and Nevada with the truth
presented in this article.
Would you consider copying or ordering
multiple copies of this newsletter and make sure that it will be given to
as many pastors as possible where you live. Email this article to as many
friends and contacts you have on the Internet. We have a couple of weeks
to warn as many pastors and leaders as possible.
My prayer is that you shall be filled with
holy anger and indignation against the Devil and his wrecking crew and do
whatever you can to stop them from destroying one more Christian.
