Judgment Always Begins
With God’s People
John S. Torell
For the last 2,000 years, there have been
no prophets like those in the Old Testament who foretold future events. In
today's day and age, how are Christians supposed to find out what is going
to happen in advance, and how do we know if natural catastrophic disasters
are the result of judgment from God?
Only
in reading the Bible can we find the answers to these questions! God's
wrath has two purposes: to bring His people back into repentance and to
show unbeliever's that sin will not go unpunished. But what happens when
people refuse to listen? What will God do when people refuse to repent? It
is true that God is love but there will come a time when He will not
extend any more mercy. When we read the Scriptures, we see exactly how God
dealt with His people, so why should we expect special treatment when we
stray from His commandments?
