NOT BEING
CONTENT
December 13, 1998
This is a great sin that is
afflicting all Christians, but varying in degree of Severity. The
fruit on this tree is easy to spot, ANGER, STRESS, COMPLAINING,
and MURMURING. Satan was never satisfied, and it cost him
everything - Isaiah 14:12-20
Why do we get irritated? Why
do we get angry? Stressed? Why do we murmur? King Saul shows us
all the answers: His pride was hurt, he felt that he lost his
dignity, He felt humiliated. 1 Samuel 18:1-15
Satan's characteristics:
Lying - John 8:44; Violence; Envy Ezekiel 28:14-18
This is the root of the tree of bitterness - NOT BEING
CONTENT,
The tree produces horrible fruit: Gal. 5:19-21
Lasciviousness - lustful, lewdness
Variance - disagreeing, quarreling
Emulation - competition
Reveler - party goers, party animal
Satan is angry (Rev. 12:12), he is insisting on his way at all
times; he has no tolerance,
TOTAL LACK OF LOVE! John 10:10
The leaders of Judaism were
not content; they were offended by Jesus
Matt. 21:33-46; 22:15-22; 26:1-5; 27:1-25
The children of Israel were
not content - they were more than upset!
Numbers 14:1-34
The believer in Christ is warned about this - 1 Cor. 10: 1-13
GOD IS LOVE! John
3:16; 1 John 1:4-7 Jesus told his disciples that we must allude in
his root system - John 15:1-5 Any branch grafted into this
treeshould bear its fruit: Gal. 5:22-26
There should be CARING,
COMMITMENT, FAITHFULNESS, STEADFASTNESS!
Most people live in the
future, never content about what this day has to offer, but
always looking to another day, which will have more to offer.
Jesus said: Life is more than food!
The body is more then something to hang clothing on. Matt.
6:24-34 Not being content is to say, that God has lost control,
he does not understand what is happening and that does give a
person the right to become angry and dissatisfied.
This kind of thinking is a direct transfer of Satan's nature into
a person.
A Christian should
constantly remember Rom. 8:8-31 and then learn to
REJOICE IN THE LORD AT
ALL TIMES!
Philippians 4:4-8
