Home Page Weekly Messages Index UNDERSTANDING THE KINGDOM OF GOD November 18, 2001 Balaam had knowledge of the true God, the Creator, and had most likely been educated through the Books of Enoch. But he had mixed truth with lies, and used his knowledge to tap into the spirit world and become very wealthy. Balaam is put in the same class as Cain, the first murderer, and Korah (Core), the Levite who conspired against Moses - Jude 8-13 As the nation of Israel was moving on the back side of the Dead Sea (east), they had conquered Ammon, and south of Ammon and north of Edom was the nation of Moab, which came from the offspring of Lot and his oldest daughter (born in incest). The Moabites feared that they were next. Numbers 22:1-4 King Balak decided that he needed help from the spirit world, and sent word to the famous diviner, Balaam. Verses 5-7 Balaam was a smart business operator, who knew how to make money, but he also knew that he did not control God - Verses 8-13 The word was clear, do not go with the men and do not curse Israel. The king of Moab refused to give up, he sent another delegation - Verses 14-17 Balaam knew that God does not change his Word from one day to the other, but in his greed he tried to talk to God one more time hoping that he could change the mind of the Lord, and God in turn tested Balaam -V.18-20 WHEN GOD HAS SPOKEN AND PEOPLE TRY TO HAVE GOD CHANGE HIS WORD, GOD WILL ALLOW LYING SPIRITS TO ENTER THE SCENE, WHO WILL BE USED TO BRING JUDGMENT! It happened to King Ahab - 1 Kings 22:1-38 It is happening now in the world - 2 Thessalonians 2:8-13 Now the anger of the Lord was kindled - Verses, Numbers 22:21-33, and it brought repentance - Verse 34 Balaam now had to pass his final test, was he going to stay true to his repentance and walk to God, or could the Devil buy him with the riches of this world? V. 35-41 King Balak now took Balaam to mountain top after mountain top, so that he could get a curse on Israel, but instead it became a blessing on Israel - Numbers 23:1-30 Balaam now understood that God was greater than the king of Moab, but his heart was still greedy - Numbers 24:1-25 The Devil used Balaam to seduce the men of Israel to worship Baal-peor through sleazy sex - Numbers 25:1-9; and in a short time the judgment of God fell and Balaam lost his life! Numbers 31:1-16 Are you watching your steps?
