WHAT IS SPIRITUAL ADULTERY?
PART 3

The New Testament is teaching that the relationship
between Christ and his disciples is like a marriage. Jesus Christ is the
Groom and the saved people are called the Bride of Christ. Revelation
19:1-9
Beginning with the early church as Jesus set it up,
marriage was to be a sacred union between one man and one woman, and both of
them were to be faithful to each other and not commit adultery. Matthew
5:27-32; 19:3-12
OBEDIENCE
When God created Lucifer, he was created as one of the
most beautiful, talented, powerful, intelligent and wise angels. Ezekiel
28:11-15
No one enticed Lucifer to rebel against God, this was a
thought process which was born in himself, after he became discontent with his
position in life. Isaiah 14:12-14
Jesus states that Lucifer did not stay in the truth, but
became the father of all lies. John 8:44
KEEPING YOUR DELIVERANCE
The Devil does not mind that a Christian reads his Bible,
says his prayers and even worships the Lord God, The Christian can even state,
"that he loves God with all his heart." All the Devil wants is a foothold, to
pollute the purity of the Christian. The name of the game for the Devil is to
snare the Christian, to make the Christian to become "SPIRITUALLY SLOPPY." I
Timothy 4:1-2; II Peter 2:1-3
It was God who gave the land of Canaan to the children of
Israel, but the question was, WERE THEY GOING TO BE ABLE TO KEEP IT?
Through Moses, God spoke some very strong warnings:
- Obey the Word of God! Deuteronomy 12:28-29
- Don't be not snared! verse 30
- Do not add or remove from the Word of God! verse 32
- If a false prophet emerges, do not follow him, have him
killed. Deuteronomy 13:1-5
- Don't be not enticed secretly - verses 6-11
- Do not follow worthless, reckless, lawless men!
verses 12-18
Let us now look at the track record of Israel:
- As long as Joshua lived on the earth, the children of
Israel served God, but when he died, they reverted back into idolatry.
Judges 2:7-9
The third generation after Joshua fell into idolatry - verses 10-15
- After crying out in pain, God delivered his people.
They were only able to keep their deliverance for 40 years - Judges 3:8-11
- For the next 18 years they lived as slaves, until they
were delivered again. This time they were able to stay free for 80 years -
verses 12-30
- Again the people turned back into idolatry, and the
judgment of God fell on them.
This time it cost them 20 years of slavery - Judges 4:1-3
Again God delivered them when they cried out - verses 23-24
Their deliverance lasted 40 years, and then they lost it - Judges 5:31;
6:1-6
It cost them seven hard years of affliction
- Again the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, and
he heard them and delivered them, this time by the hand of Gideon - Judges
6:7-14
A great supernatural victory was given to Israel - Judges 7:19-25
They were able to keep their deliverance for 40 years, but as soon as Gideon
had died, Israel went right back unto the worship of idols! Judges
8:23-35
The book of Judges should really be called THE BOOK OF
SHAME! It is the story of God’s faithfulness and the
faithlessness, unthankfulness, rebellion and sin laden people of Israel!
They did nothing but bring shame and filth upon themselves.
- The people of God through the ages have a tragic track
record.
- Three hundred years after Christ, the Church lost its
power and direction
- Eleven hundred years later, God raised up Martin Luther
, but it only took a generation or so, and that was lost.
- God raised up John and Charles Wesley, and the
Methodist church was born. It began in fire but today it is nothing than a
broken down remnant, void of power and the glory of God.
- William and Catherine Booth, came out from the
Methodist church. They were on fire for God and founded the Salvation Army,
with the motto "Blood and Fire." It swept like a hot burning fire into scores
of nations, bringing people to Christ. Today it is nothing but a burnt out
shell, turned into a stagnant social service organization.
Every fire that God
has started in the hearts of men, has been lost in time. The men and women of
God have not been able to keep it going! It must be breaking the heart of God,
Jesus his Son and The Holy Ghost!
Most people who have been saved as young people are
not able to keep the fire going in their hearts, but end up walking in sin and
compromise!
Are you going to be an exception?
