John S. Torell October 10, 2004 WHAT IS THE CORRECT CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE? In order to know and discern false doctrine, every saved person must first know what correct doctrine is as presented in the Bible. Let’s take a look at the very basic beliefs of Christianity. Jesus displayed divine supernatural powers as he walked on this earth and trained his disciples. The people were impressed, not only of his divine power, but of the authority that he displayed. Matthew 7:28-29 Jesus ministered first in preaching and teaching, and secondly in signs and wonders.
This divine supernatural power was temporarily transferred to his disciples. Matthew 10:1; Luke 9:1-2; 10:1, 9, 17-20 There was going to be a permanent transfer of power and authority under the BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT! John 7:37-39; Acts 1: 4-8 The first baptism of the Holy Spirit took place on the day of Pentecost. Acts 2:1-4 Then there are continuous fillings during the life time of a believer. Acts 4:31 The initial baptism can come with or without the laying on of hands. Acts 10:34-48; 8:14-25 It is available to all believers in Christ! Acts 2:37-39 NOTE: A person who is gifted in the area of music will never know of their talent until they begin using it! In much the same way, a Christian will never know the power of the Holy Spirit until they let the Holy Spirit work through them!
