The Epistle to the Hebrews
Part 5: A Strong Warning Against Unbelief |
|
It is important to live in the
present and pay attention to the condition of your heart in order to
avoid unbelief which begins with procrastination and turns your
heart away from God. This doesn't happen overnight but develops over
time. Procrastination means you are living in the past or delaying
future decisions. The children of Israel were filled with so much
unbelief that they provoked God to anger. A whole generation had to
die in the wilderness because they questioned God’s character and
essentially called Him a liar. The deceitfulness of sin develops an
evil heart of unbelief and causes you to depart from the living God.
On the contrary, we are to exhort one another and not provoke the
Lord to anger. You can please God by having faith in Him and
believing that His word is good, regardless of the circumstances. |
