THE GOD OF THE OLD TESTAMENT
Part 4: The Law of Sin |
|
The Law of Death was instituted when Jesus commanded
Adam not to eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
Every person since the fall of man is under a universal curse
brought about by sin.
The Law of Moses defined God’s character, dictated the conduct for
the Israelites, but could not remove the condemnation of death.
Jesus fulfilled the divine requirement of justice at the cross and
redeemed humanity from the Law of Death. Being “under the law” means
remaining subject to the curse of sin and death, whereas being
“under grace” means living in the freedom granted through Christ. We
are no longer condemned, but justified by faith in Christ alone. The
Law of Death stands as a grim reminder of the divine justice that
only the Messiah could overcome. Those who accept His atoning
sacrifice are freed from condemnation, restored to spiritual life,
and destined for eternal fellowship in heaven. |
