I am deeply thankful for
God’s mercy in this presidential election as it was revealed last night. Let me
make it clear from the start that Donald Trump’s victory was not the work of
man. He would never have won the election without the Lord’s help! We have
witnessed a great miracle as the Democratic Party and the mainstream media were
confounded in their effort to make Hillary Clinton the next president.
The odds were certainly not
in Trump’s favor as the Republican leadership abandoned him in their bid to deny
him the presidency. Hundreds of prominent Republicans openly stated they would
not vote for him. Former presidents George H.W. Bush stated that he would be
voting for Hillary Clinton and George W. Bush refused to attend the republican
convention. There were many republican senators, congressmen and other leaders
who pledged to work against Trump.
Jeb Bush spent a hundred
million dollars in the Florida primary election smearing Trump and yet nothing
could stop him from winning.
Barack Obama declared that
Trump was unfit to serve as a president. This was especially ironic since Obama
does not meet the basic requirement of being a natural born citizen. When he
finally produced his birth certificate, it was revealed to be a forgery. No
charges have been filed to date.
The Democratic Party paid
women to come forward and tell the media they had been sexually assaulted by
Trump and the media gloried in the stories of what Trump had supposedly done.
An 11 year old videotape of
Trump was released in which he and Billy Bush, a cousin of former president
George W. Bush, spoke about women in a vulgar manner. Trump bragged to a fawning
Bush about groping women and the methods he used to seduce women. When that
story was brought forward, Trump responded by apologizing saying he was not the
same person anymore.
Trump was greatly outspent
by millions in this election. Attack ads ran day and night on television and he
was painted as the most hated man in America, unstable and not fit to be
president. Hillary Clinton even went so far as to call his supporters
“deplorable.”
Once the presidential
election began in earnest after the respective conventions, the media continued
to use their “polls” to show that Clinton was continually in the lead. Being
completely outspent by his opponent, attacked by his own party and smeared by
the media, Trump really did not stand a chance to win. There was however another
factor that the media completely failed to take into consideration.
“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name
of the LORD our God.” (Psalms 20:7)
THE UNTOLD STORY
Sometime before Trump
decided to run for the presidency, he had been watching an American
televangelist named Paula White and was impressed by her message.
White is not be the person
I would select to witness about Christ since she had a messy divorce and
extra-marital relationships, but God is not a respecter of persons and can use
whomever He wants to do accomplish His work on earth.
Paula White was asked to
come and personally speak to Trump and his family. She prayed with him and
claimed that he accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior.
Once
Trump decided that he was going to run for the presidency, he asked White to
come back and speak with him again. At that meeting he asked her to contact some
25 evangelical Christian ministers and ask them to meet with him. Baptist,
Pentecostal and other denominational leaders came and Trump asked if they would
be willing to advise his campaign. Among them was Darrel Scott from Cleveland,
David Jeremiah, James Robison, Kenneth Copeland, James Dobson and others.
James Robison and other
ministers spoke to him about his faith, and it was affirmed that Trump had
indeed been born again. They told him that he would never win without God’s
help. During the latter part of the campaign, James Robison flew with Trump from
rally to rally and spent personal time with him.
Steven Strang of Charisma
magazine began to push Trump and so did Jim Bakker and many other prominent
ministries. Trump issued a call for ministers to come and meet with him. A
thousand pastors from different denominations came around the country met in
June to see for themselves whether Trump was pro-life and stood for Christian
values. Jim Bakker made a statement that Donald Trump had been the only one to
gather so many preachers from different denominations and bring them to together
to work in unity.
Dr. Robert Jeffress from
First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas and Dr. Ed Young from Second Baptist
Church in Houston, Texas worked to bring in the Southern Baptist vote.
Franklin Graham began a
yearlong campaign to hold rallies in every state capitol and ended it with a
huge rally in Washington D.C. He did not endorse Trump, but urged people to vote
for biblical values as presented in the party platforms. On the election night,
he held a live prayer meeting via Facebook and led thousands of Christians to
pray for the election.
Steven Strang used his
Charisma media network to bring in prophets and pastors and openly told people
that Trump was the only option if you are a Christian. Charisma posted an appeal
from Revival Ministries asking Christians to fast and pray during the six days
leading to the election. I was one of the thousands of Christians who agreed to
fast and pray. I withheld 18 meals from myself but I can say it was worth the
sacrifice. It was a small price to pay and worth it for our nation.
HEARING FROM HEAVEN
What would happen if
Christians ask God for help? Well, the Lord answered this question more than
three thousand years ago:
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and
pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear
from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2
Chronicles 7:14)
God said that miracles
would happen if Christians would humble themselves, pray and seek His face. We
witnessed a something awesome yesterday when the Holy Spirit drove people to the
polls and put it in their hearts to vote for Donald Trump. It was a supernatural
move of God that defied the political establishment in America and propelled an
underdog to victory. With God all things are possible!
Christians came out by the
millions and the media told us that this was the largest amount of evangelicals
that had voted in years. Pastors like me had for months been speaking to
Christians to vote for a candidate that is pro-life and pro-Bible. Christian
pastors and educators wrote articles, published books on short notice and most
of the Christian television and radio outlets promoted Trump.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY
I want to make it clear
that despite the efforts of Christians, no man can take the credit since it was
God that moved upon America. It wasn’t because Donald Trump or his staff ran an
effective campaign. Hillary Clinton is a crooked politician and a disappointment
with all her moral failures but no man can take the credit for her stunning
defeat. All these seemingly random events were orchestrated by God and Him
alone!
This is the time to be
thankful because we have been granted a four year reprieve where we should not
be persecuted for our Christian faith by an ungodly government. What will you do
with this time? If you follow sports, you know that the Chicago Cubs recently
won the World Series. Donald Trump just won the presidency. Some might jokingly
say that now is the time to buy a lottery ticket! Seriously, we need to be
thankful and give God the glory! This is also not the time to rest upon our
success. We can’t be passive and go back to sleep. This is a time to fervently
pray like never before! The Devil is mad and he will fight back. You can bet
that the ungodly people will seek a change to this recent reversal.
LOOKING FORWARD
It is important to uphold
Donald Trump in the following ways:
1.
We need to pray that no one will be able to
assassinate Donald Trump.
2.
We need to pray that God will protect him
from the evil people who will undoubtedly try to infiltrate his administration.
3.
We need to pray that Trump will continue to
be humble and surround himself with Christian ministers.
I want to close with the
following exhortation from King David three thousand years ago.
“Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together,
against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands
asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
He
that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in
derision.
Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore
displeasure.
Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree:
the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the
uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces
like a potter's vessel.
Be
wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath
is kindled but a little.
Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.” (Psalm 2:1-12)
