WHAT WAS I THINKING?

BREAKING DOWN THOUGHT PATTERNS
We
need to understand how our thoughts work. When we truly understand this,
it won’t be hard to believe that we can do something about them. The Lord
created our minds to work for us, not against us. But guess who else was
there when we were created? Lucifer. He watched Papa God mold and make us
in His image, and so he knows your anatomy too, far better than even the
world’s smartest scientists! That means we need to know it as well so that
we aren’t taken for a ride every time we turn around. We need to know that
we can do something about it.
Hosea 4:6 says that we perish for lack of knowledge. We find ourselves in
messes because we just don’t know. But we hope that what we share in this
book is changing all that so you don’t perish for lack of knowledge, but
use the knowledge to keep yourself “out” of the enemy’s snare.
"And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be
gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, in meekness instructing those
that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to
the acknowledging of the truth; and that they may recover themselves out
of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will."
(2 Timothy 2:24-26).
Pathway of Fear or Faith
As we have already taught, every thought you have will go down either a
pathway of faith or a pathway of fear. Most people have been trained by
the enemy for so long to look for fear. Your brain picks up on it and
says, “Hmm, that looks like fear.” Then it goes down that familiar fear
pathway.
But if you begin to do as the Bible instructs us and look for faith, you
will begin to trust in the Lord with your whole heart and mind. You then
will begin to have thoughts that travel down the faith pathway. You must
start training yourself to practice walking and thinking and speaking in
faith. If you can just start practicing this for about three days in a
row, you will begin to reap some of the benefits. For one thing, you will
start seeing situations and people from a heavenly perspective. You will
start applying the truth you know, and it will make you free, as John 8:32
says. A new growth of faith thoughts will begin to override the old
fearful ones. You will cut off that old pathway and begin to blaze a new
trail going down the faith way. Perhaps you have noticed that in your life
there have been many pathways of fear, and that it was not easy to walk in
faith; there was a doorway here and a doorway there of fear along your
pathways of thoughts. The reason we have fear is that we do not believe
God’s promises.
Linda remembers a time when she was having difficulty with a reoccurring
health issue. She decided to put into practice what we are talking about
here. She changed her thought pathway on purpose. As you know, it’s easy
to think a negative thought; you don’t even have to try, but it takes
effort to think a God thought. Since this was the case, the battle was on.
Imagine how easily the wheels of a car fall into a rut in a road. Well,
that’s what happens in our thinking unless we do something about it. In
Linda’s case, when this health symptom came, her mind went down that same
rut, and the results were the same—disease. But, when she purposefully
thought on truth, lo and behold, the thought pathway changed, and her
health was restored.
What was that truth she dwelt on, you ask? The truth that God loves her
and wants her well. That He has good plans for her, and there is nothing
too big for Him. That He is in control, and that her life was in His
hands. She began thanking Him for loving her, for His presence, for His
help, for healing me, for saving her soul. She would think on Scriptures
that pertained to her situation, such as, “God has not given me a spirit
of fear, but power, love, and a sound mind. “The plans for me are for good
not for evil.” “Put our affections on things above, not things on this
earth.” And as she meditated on these things, a new pathway was created
that brought her peace. It took effort on her part to change that rut;
it’s also up to you to do the same.
Whenever there is a trauma, reoccurring traumas, or illnesses in your
life, all those chemicals from your thoughts about these things are being
released throughout your body causing what the world calls “emotions and
attitudes.” All these chemicals are rushing through the pathways of
arteries, veins, and marrow, and the first place it goes to is the heart.
